Mug of turmeric latte

Warming turmeric latte

22 January 2021 //  by Emma

It’s cold and frosty outside, which makes me want a warming, comforting drink. This morning I’ve turned to a sunshine-yellow turmeric latte to put a smile on my face and receive an anti-inflammatory boost (thanks to the curcumin) at the same time.

Curcumin is fat soluble and its bioavailability is boosted by piperine in black pepper so always make sure you add some fat and a twist of black pepper whenever you are cooking with turmeric. The recipe here uses full fat or coconut milk, but you could replace it with almond milk and add a teaspoon of coconut oil to provide the necessary fat.

Serves two:
250ml full fat milk or coconut milk
2 heaped tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
Twist of black pepper
1 tsp honey

Put all ingredients into a pan and warm gently.
